Answers to the questions we hear most often about IAPI.
The Indiana Association of Professional Investigators (IAPI) is a statewide nonprofit founded in 1996. We advance the standards, education, and ethics of private and special investigators across Indiana, uniting licensed professionals from Indianapolis to every corner of the state.
Membership is open to licensed Indiana private investigators, qualifying investigative specialists, retired investigators, and students pursuing a career in the profession. Associate and supporting memberships are also available for allied professionals.
An active Indiana PI license is required for full Active membership. Investigators without a current Indiana license may qualify for Associate or Student membership depending on their background.
Annual dues are $100 for Active, $50 for Associate, $25 for Student, and $125 for Corporate membership. You can sign up and pay online, and we’ll email you a reminder with a renewal link before your membership expires. See the Membership page for details.
Members gain access to statewide networking, continuing education and training, a member directory listing for client referrals, member-only resources, event discounts, and a unified voice on legislative and regulatory issues affecting the profession.
IAPI holds regular meetings, trainings, and an annual conference throughout the year at locations across Indiana. Upcoming dates, venues, and registration links are posted on the Events page.
Yes. IAPI hosts trainings, seminars, and conference sessions designed to support continuing professional development. Topics range from surveillance and interviewing to legal updates, technology, and ethics.
The Member Directory lists IAPI members with contact information so individuals, attorneys, insurers, and businesses can connect directly with a qualified Indiana investigator.
IAPI maintains professional relationships with national and regional investigator organizations and supports its members’ participation in broader industry communities, while remaining an independent Indiana-focused nonprofit.
You can reach IAPI by email at Info@IAPI.net or by mail at 9801 Fall Creek Rd., #222, Indianapolis, IN 46256. The Contact page also includes a message form for general inquiries.
